Well Control - BOP Technician Maintenance Manager (Residential)

We are seeking a Well Control – BOP Technician Maintenance Manager (Residential) with deep drilling land rigs experience for our client in Kuwait.

Position Overview: The Well Control – BOP Technician Maintenance Manager will lead the maintenance, inspection, testing, and reliability of Blowout Preventer (BOP) systems and associated well control equipment for deep drilling land rig operations in Kuwait. 

Key Responsibilities:

BOP & Well Control Equipment:

• Lead all maintenance, repair, inspection, testing, and certification activities for BOP systems and well control equipment.
• Ensure BOP stacks, choke manifolds, accumulator units, hydraulic control systems, and associated equipment remain fully operational.
• Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Coordinate BOP pressure testing and function testing in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical failures.
• Ensure OEM maintenance recommendations are implemented.

Maintenance Management:

• Develop annual and quarterly maintenance strategies for drilling equipment.
• Manage maintenance planning using CMMS.
• Optimize equipment reliability and minimize non-productive time (NPT).
• Manage spare parts inventory and critical equipment availability.
• Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and corrective action implementation.
• Control maintenance budgets and contractor performance.

Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure compliance with company HSE standards and applicable regional regulations.
• Promote a strong well control and process safety culture.
• Maintain complete maintenance and certification records.
• Participate in audits, rig inspections, and incident investigations.
• Ensure emergency response readiness for well control equipment.

Leadership:

• Supervise BOP technicians, mechanics, and maintenance personnel.
• Mentor and develop technical competency within the maintenance team.
• Coordinate with Rig Managers, Toolpushers, Drilling Superintendents, OEMs, and third-party service providers.
• Foster effective collaboration within multicultural work environments.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Petroleum Engineering.
• Experience of 8+years of drilling equipment maintenance and BOP maintenance experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a maintenance leadership or management role.
• Extensive experience supporting deep drilling land rigs (3000HP, HPHT and high-capacity drilling operations).
• Demonstrated success leading maintenance teams in multicultural Middle East operations.
• Strong working knowledge of international drilling standards and OEM maintenance practices.
• Excellent understanding of well control equipment reliability and operational risk management.
• Ability to minimize downtime while maintaining the highest safety standards.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Current well control certification (e.g., IWCF or IADC WellSharp).
• Strong knowledge of OEM BOP systems and control equipment.
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Candidates from Canada, United States, Europe, Eastern Europe, Australia, China are preferred.
