Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

JOB Responsibilities:

The organization as part of its transformation strategy, has re-positioned its Information Technology function. The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) as the driver of emerging technologies and digital solutions will provide technical and strategic leadership for the performance of the Head of R&D, products and project management function.

The CTO will lead 4 key units:

I. Research and Development Management.

II. Business Systems Development.

III. IT Business Operations Management.

IV. Infrastructure & Database Management.

The role holder will collaborate and work with Top Management to ensure the organization has the requisite technology infrastructure and capabilities to support business goals and objectives. The CTO will lead all digital innovations, improve efficiency, whilst demonstrating strong technology and business acumen and optimize the user experience. The role holder will demonstrate managerial capability, lead and develop the department by building and ensuring the right talent and competencies across the Information Technology function.

  • Provide input for the formulation of policies for the Department.
  • Ensure the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, programs and activities.
  • Exercise oversight responsibility for the efficient and effective management of the human, material and financial resources.
  • Establish ambitious yet achievable development milestones, ensuring that these goals are met on time, within budget, and adhere to our high standards for code quality.
  • Partner with Production and Product to build a long-term roadmap, set schedules, and allocate resources.
  • Spearheaded the development of scalable technical solutions to underpin our codebase and ensure its ability to accommodate future growth.
  • Ensure that the company's technology vision is aligned with its short-term and long-term business goals, and effectively communicate this vision to all employees.
  • Lead and empower an engineering department with a diverse set of skills and experience levels, offering both technical mentorship and organizational oversight.
  • Lead the process of identifying, evaluating, and selecting potential technical partners, libraries, and other technologies and tools.
  • Implement and uphold engineering best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies to guarantee the successful delivery of a high-quality, scalable, and maintainable product. Especially, familiar with all kinds of game framework design and support for high concurrency scenarios
  • Stay on the forefront of tech and gaming trends.
  • Ensure collaboration with relevant stakeholders on database management interface on the organizations systems.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the organizations automated system.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Performance Management System of the Department.
  • Ensure the preparation of the annual work plan and budget of the Department.
  • Ensure the preparation of annual and other periodic reports.

Job Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience, with a significant amount of it in building multiplayer online games.
  • 7+ years of management experience, CTO or equivalent position will be preferred
  • Having released an AA+ or AAA persistent multiplayer game on PC or Console in a programming leadership position will be plus.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with various game technologies and programming languages including golang, cocos, C++, Unreal Engine/Unity/Other game engines, custom toolchains and Server/Multiplayer technologies.
  • Extensive experience in the development and deployment of online games, including expertise in network architecture, server-side programming, and player engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of pragmatic prioritizing, evaluating, and implementing effective solutions under pressure and in the face of conflicting demands.
  • Exhibit strong business judgment to guide technology-related decisions that align with the company's long-term strategy.
  • Proven experience hiring and mentoring a top-notch engineering team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to productively communicate with both technical and non-technical people.
