Key Responsibilities:
The PICU Clinical Pharmacist will play a vital role in patient care, developing, implementing, and monitoring clinical pharmacy programs to enhance outcomes and manage costs. This includes:
- Providing specialized clinical services directly to PICU patients and professional staff.
- Collaborating proactively with medical staff on drug utilization and cost containment strategies.
- Participating in interdisciplinary rounds with physicians and attending relevant meetings (flexibility required).
- Assisting in supervising department employee activities, in consultation with leadership, as needed.
Schedule:
- Day shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Flexibility is essential due to rounding with physicians and meeting attendance.
- On-Call Requirement: One full week every 8 weeks, providing after-hours and weekend coverage. Please note, there is no additional pay for on-call duties.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
- Licensure: Active Pharmacist Licensure in the State of Texas.
- Certification: Pharmacy Sterile Product certification through an in-house program or other accredited program, if applicable.
- Experience:
- Residency Trained: Completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency (PGY1).
- Or Equivalent Experience: PGY1 Residency and 3 years of direct experience in a PICU setting will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PGY2 Residency Training in Pediatrics.
Required Skills & Attributes:
- Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork, build effective professional relationships, and lead/facilitate work groups.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficient knowledge of pharmacy and hospital computer systems, including computer-assisted devices.
- Familiarity with the healthcare reimbursement environment.
