Your Impactful Role:
As the PICU Clinical Pharmacist, you will be an indispensable member of the interdisciplinary care team, directly influencing the pharmacotherapeutic management of critically ill pediatric patients. You will develop, implement, and monitor advanced clinical pharmacy programs designed to optimize patient outcomes, ensure medication safety, and promote cost-effective care.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Specialized Clinical Services: Provide expert pharmaceutical care and specialized clinical services directly to PICU patients, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Proactively participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds, offering critical insights on drug utilization, patient-specific medication regimens, and contributing to comprehensive care plans.
- Strategic Drug Management: Partner with medical staff to implement advanced drug utilization and cost containment strategies, ensuring optimal resource allocation without compromising patient care.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Assist in guiding and supervising department employee activities, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the pharmacy team.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to clinical program development and quality improvement initiatives that enhance medication management and patient safety in the PICU.
Schedule & Commitment:
- This is a full-time, day shift position: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Dynamic Environment: Flexibility is a key aspect of this role, required for participation in interdisciplinary rounds and essential meetings that extend beyond standard hours.
What You'll Bring (Qualifications):
- Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
- Licensure: Active Pharmacist Licensure in the State of Texas.
- Certification: Pharmacy Sterile Product certification (in-house program or accredited).
- Experience:
- Residency Trained: Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy practice residency OR
- Equivalent Experience: PGY1 Residency combined with 3 years of direct experience in a PICU setting.
- Preferred: PGY2 Residency Training in Pediatrics.
Required Skills & Attributes:
- Exceptional ability to foster teamwork, cultivate strong professional relationships, and effectively lead or facilitate work groups.
- A strong customer service orientation, paired with outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficient knowledge of pharmacy and hospital computer systems, including advanced computer-assisted devices.
