Location: Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (Onsite. No work from home). Saturdays working.

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientific Application Support Engineer to support laboratory software applications and scientific systems used across R&D and analytical laboratories. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth functioning of laboratory applications, providing technical support to scientists, and coordinating with vendors for issue resolution, upgrades, and system improvements.

The ideal candidate should be capable of independently managing user support, troubleshooting application issues, and ensuring seamless integration between laboratory workflows and scientific software platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide application support for laboratory and scientific software systems used in R&D and QC laboratories.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for lab users for troubleshooting and resolving application-related issues.
  • Work closely with scientists, researchers, and lab personnel to understand workflows and ensure optimal application usage.
  • Coordinate with software vendors and service providers for issue resolution, system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
  • Perform root cause analysis and timely resolution of incidents and system issues.
  • Support application configuration, user management, and system administration activities.
  • Ensure systems operate in compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR Part 11) where applicable.
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles related to supported applications.
  • Assist in software validation, testing, and deployment of new application releases or upgrades.
  • Provide user training and guidance for laboratory software tools.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively address potential issues.
  • Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to ensure system availability and security.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience supporting scientific or laboratory applications in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences environments.
  • Experience supporting Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), ELN, CDS, or other scientific applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently support lab users and manage application incidents.
  • Experience coordinating with external vendors and internal IT teams.
  • Knowledge of GxP environments, Data Integrity requirements and regulatory compliance is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Waters Empower, LabWare LIMS, Thermo Fisher applications, ELN systems, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of laboratory workflows in pharmaceutical R&D or QC labs.
  • Familiarity with system validation, change management, and documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of databases, integrations, and application configurations.
