Job Overview

Senior Chemist position is based in Rajkot, Gujarat. This role requires a depth of experience in the field with 7 to 10 years of experience.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or closely related field
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in a chemist or related role
  • Strong knowledge of chemical analysis techniques
  • Familiarity with plywood manufacturing processes
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Provide inputs to the Production Manager / Assistant Production Manager on a day to day basis for enabling the collation of data pertaining to quality, required for preparing the budget for the plant
  • Provide ongoing inputs to the Production Manager /Assistant Production Manager and ensure the establishment of quality check points during different stages of the production process
  • Assist Shift Supervisors in production by periodically checking and approving quality parameters
  • Suggest appropriate remedial actions to the Shift Supervisors when deviations from quality standards are detected during production
  • Supervise Hot Press and Dryer working - ensure proper temperature, pressure and time settings depending on the product specifications
  • Track and keep emission levels of harmful gases within permissible levels during the production process and escalate any serious digressions
  • Oversee the sample testing process and escalate all aberrations to the Production Manager
  • Check and approve the quality of various chemicals consumed in the production process
  • Supervise the Resin making process and keep a track of daily Resin consumption and also carry out tests for assessing the Resin quality
  • Supervise Moisture Content Test, Glue Composition Test and Face Moisture Content Test etc.
  • Ensure compliance to applicable BIS/ISI standards of quality assurance
  • Carry out Research and Development to improve the Resin making process
  • Maintain records about the quality measures and facilitate EDP in compiling data and generate periodic quality reports
  • Ensure systems and processes are adhered to and Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) are followed
  • Ensure compliance to all safety, health and environment measures in the process
