As a Genetic Counselor I, you will play a crucial role in our clinical support team, responsible for facilitating communication between Baylor Genetics and professional clients, critical review of laboratory test orders and reports, managing complex cases and providing expert guidance in genetic testing strategies.

As a Genetic Counselor I, you will play a crucial role in our clinical support team, responsible for facilitating communication between Baylor Genetics and professional clients, critical review of laboratory test orders and reports, managing complex cases and providing expert guidance in genetic testing strategies.
EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE
- Degree: Master of Science or Master of Arts in Genetic Counseling from an ACGC-accredited program or equivalent.
- Certification: Board certified or Board eligible in Genetic Counseling by ABMG or ABGC.
- Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the USA without restrictions.
- Training: Onsite training and occasional meetings may be required; remote work available for experienced Genetic Counselors with appropriate laboratory experience.
- Experience: Experience (1+ years) in clinical or laboratory genetics preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Communicate effectively with professional clients, ensuring coordination of complex cases and relaying abnormal or intricate results.
- Perform critical review of test orders and laboratory reports for accuracy and precision.
- Facilitate management of complex cases between various internal teams and external clients
- Act as a liaison between professional clients and laboratory teams.
- Educate and support professional trainees, including genetic counseling students.
- Contribute to new test development, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate on professional manuscripts and presentations related to genetics.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical and laboratory genetics along with related resources.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders.
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within laboratory teams.
- Fundamental understanding of laws governing laboratory functions.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including database management and electronic medical records.
- Frequently required to sit.
- Frequently required to stand.
- Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
- Frequently required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
- Occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials.
