What We Expect From You
- Develops and executes departmental and company procedures
- Acts as a champion for the Editorial department
- Meets with other department heads and/or brand teams that require additional editorial resources
- Determines and assigns product responsibilities of each editor/proofreader
- Coordinates freelancers schedules and adapts departmental resources when staffing deficiencies or excessive workload increases arise
- Editing responsibilities (includes proofreading, fact-checking, and styling major promotional print pieces in accordance with AMA and client guidelines)
- Establishes and maintains policies and procedures for the department, including client, FDA, and AMA updates
- Ensures appropriate expense control and achieves budgetary goals on assigned brand(s)
- Motivates staff and keeps them well informed of any procedural changes
- Ensures editorial style is meticulously maintained for each assigned brand
- Conducts performance evaluations for direct reports
- Hires and trains staff
- Interacts with clients in the interest of solving problems and/or establishing policies and guidelines relevant to their business, as required
Background/experience And Skills
- At least 5 years at a pharmaceutical/healthcare advertising agency
- Prior supervisory experience or demonstrated equivalent
- Medical education experience, as applicable
- In-depth knowledge of AMA style (11th edition) and familiarity with FDA regulations
- Bachelors degree or graduate degree in a related field
- Expertise in MS Office, including Word and PowerPoint; comfort working in Acrobat
- Internet search capability
