This band 8a role will be responsible for the oversight of the Medicines Management Team (MMT) in UHS and direct line management of specialist pharmacy technicians, as well as those working in cross-sector posts. This team has been well-established for many years and supports the clinical pharmacy service to over 1400 patients. Continuous improvement and adaptation is a way of life in UHS, and you will be key to identifying and implementing these changes with your team, for the benefit of both patients and staff. - Lead the pharmacy service in Medicines Management and support the development of a Pharmacy departmental strategy in accordance with service agreements and key performance indicators to support UHS and collaborative working partners objectives.
- Line manage members of the Medicines Management team and provide leadership on recruitment, sickness, disciplinary, appraisal and career development.
- Responsible for long term planning and development of the Medicines Management service, linked to stakeholders expected growth to ensure the service can meet the UHS and external demands.
- Autonomously manage the budget for the Medicines Management service.
- Responsible for negotiating external contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with local healthcare providers (ICB/ICS, local NHS Trusts and PCN etc) in collaboration with clinical pharmacy services.
- Monitor and analyse Medicines Management service workload and performance of service, and identify ways to ensure service resilience.

- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience with specialist training/experience in medicines management or related subject.
- Management training /experience to intermediate level.
- Project management training /qualification (Prince 2 Foundation or equivalent)
- Other relevant pharmacy or research qualifications e.g., ACPT, PIPC, Medicines Management
- Leadership training

- Significant post qualification experience in a hospital setting including a management role
- Highly specialised experience within medicines management
- Staff recruitment, appraisal, performance, and absence management.
