Autonomous Medical Devices Incorporated (AMDI), with its principal place of business in California, employs a world class team of engineers, scientists, clinicians, and manufacturing experts dedicated to the development and manufacture of point-of-care diagnostic devices using breakthrough microfluidics, protein engineering, and data/cloud connectivity. AMDI will launch its first products from its ISO:13485 certified 110,000 square foot facility in Santa Ana, CA.


Summary of Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join our dynamic biotech industry team. The Associate Scientist will be performing experiments under the guidance of a Senior Scientist. The individual will follow written procedures, demonstrate accurate documentation skills, and report results in a timely manner. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting routine lab maintenance activities, and participating in staff meetings.


Location:
This is an onsite position located at our Menlo Park, CA office. Candidates living within a 25 mile range preferred.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow and perform established experimental design protocols to obtain reproducible and reliable results with supervision
  • Record and analyze experimental data
  • Maintain an electronic lab notebook
  • Communicate results in a clear and concise manner
  • Effectively troubleshoot equipment and experimental difficulties
  • Order, track, and monitor lab supplies
  • Additional projects and/or duties as assigned


Qualifications Required for Position

  • BS/BA degree in the life sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related scientific field)
  • Previous experience in research or clinical laboratory
  • Proficiency with software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organization and record-keeping skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time and task management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
  • Ability to plan ahead and be proactive
  • On occasion, may need to work a longer day or shift to complete an experiment or project
  • Desire to learn, grow and develop soft/technical skills and scientific techniques
  • Ability to work the hours needed to achieve project results as well as manage multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to travel up to 10% per year
  • Prior experience in molecular biology, virology, biochemistry (preferred)
  • Prior experience in PCR, Western blot, and/or ELISA (preferred)
  • Prior experience in tissue culture and/or protein purification will be given preference


Work Environment

  • In-person position that requires working indoors in a BSL2 facility and testing laboratory environment.
  • May require working near blood borne pathogens
  • Position may at times require the employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present
  • Employee must perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and shoes, protective clothing, and gloves, and possibly a respirator
