An exciting opportunity is available to join Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s Medical Safety Directorate.
You will play a key role in achieving our strategy to improve the care delivered across Scotland. You will provide strategic senior leadership and specialist, professional Pharmacy advice and providing clinical leadership in guiding the development of Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s strategic direction. The post holder will work internally with a range of stakeholders to ensure that Medicines Pharmacy work programmes align and integrate with other national improvement/assurance programmes and externally with key partner agencies to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred Health Social Care for everyone in Scotland.
Externally you will work with professional and regulatory bodies to forge strong strategic relationships, providing leadership across multiple agencies to support improvements in care across health and care services in Scotland. You will be required to represent Healthcare Improvement Scotland at the highest level across multiple agencies working with key stakeholders in Scottish Government, Professional Bodies and Territorial Health Board.
You will have responsibility for driving a consistent approach to clinical and care governance within HIS, ensuring that programmes of work across the organisation are underpinned by sound professional advice and ensuring that Pharmacists within the organisation receive professional support.
You will be educated to Masters level or equivalent, be registered with the GPC and have extensive experience at both a senior management and clinical leadership level within the NHS, with experience of providing leadership cross organisationally and out with your area of specialist clinical expertise. You will also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of delivering sustainable improvements at system level.
The Medical Safety Directorate was established in 2023 with a focus on clinical expertise supporting safer care in Scotland. Internally the directorate provides professional leadership and support for all medical and pharmacy professionals and expert professional advice across Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
Closing Date: midnight on Sunday 17 November 2024.
It is anticipated that interviews will be held on 23 December 2024.
