We are looking for a driven and customer-focused Area Sales Engineer to join Spirax Sarco UK & ROI. In this role, you will identify, drive, and deliver sales and profit growth across all channels—including end users, resellers, contractors and OEMs. Using a solution-selling approach, you’ll collaborate across teams and functions to deliver exceptional value to our customers and help shape the future growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Profit Growth:

  • Maximise sales and profit growth across Products, Solutions and Services.
  • Apply solution selling principles at every opportunity.
  • Work collaboratively in a matrix environment with Specialists, ASEs, BDMs, DSMs, NSMs and internal teams.
  • Optimise customer-facing time by leveraging internal resources to minimise admin and non-value-add activity.

Customer Delight

  • Deliver exceptional service internally and externally to exceed customer expectations.
  • Record and manage all customer-care issues using CRM Case Management.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate openly and effectively across all UK & ROI Sales teams and group operations.
  • Use appropriate tools to ensure timely and accurate information sharing.

Opportunity & Customer Development

  • Develop proactive account plans with clear objectives and strategic approaches.
  • Build relationships at senior levels within customer organisations.
  • Identify and share new opportunity areas with Marketing, Energy Solutions, and Business Development teams.
  • Create accurate sales forecasts using tools including Excel (Pivot Tables), MATs, opportunity logs and CRM.

Business Information & Processes

  • Maintain CRM and business information integrity using iShare, CRM Sales Express and other planning tools.
  • Follow established business processes, especially the Lead to Order process.

Your Experience & Skills

We’re seeking someone who can demonstrate:

Experience

  • Previous experience in a technical or commercial customer-facing role.
  • Strong background in solution selling.
  • Steam or process industry experience is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in business management or developing customer accounts.
  • A proven track record of continuous improvement.

Skills & Attributes

  • Target-driven with a strong desire to “get things done”.
  • Confident, professional and excellent at building rapport.
  • Strong listening skills and customer empathy.
  • IT literate with experience using CRM and business planning tools.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Recognised technical or business qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Completion of Level 1 Sales Force Development Programme (or willingness to complete).
  • Process and application knowledge.
  • Technical or Business Management qualification preferred.
