Purchasing Manager (APAC)
Job Description:
We are representing a global leader in the electronic components industry to appoint an experienced Purchasing Manager (APAC). This is a strategic regional role leading a team of buyers who support global sales operations across Asia, North America, and Europe.
The Purchasing Manager will oversee purchasing operations, build and strengthen supplier relationships across the APAC region, enhance team capability, and ensure efficient procurement processes aligned with the evolving needs of the business. The role also partners closely with global procurement teams to execute regional and global sourcing strategies.
About the Role
- Lead end-to-end sourcing and purchasing of electronic components and commodities, including passives, ICs, memory, CPU, and storage.
- Identify, qualify, and onboard in-region suppliers in partnership with global commodity management and supplier development teams.
- Build, manage, and strengthen supplier relationships to ensure performance, reliability, and alignment with company standards.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a regional team of buyersguiding PO placement, expediting, documentation accuracy, and resolution of escalations.
- Develop team capability through ongoing technical, market, and product training, and ensure effective workload delegation and coverage across the region.
- Collect, analyse, and report market insightsincluding commodity trends and cost movementsto support procurement strategy and global decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement of purchasing processes and collaborate closely with sales, warehouse, quality, engineering, and other internal partners to resolve issues quickly and support special sourcing initiatives.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field, with 7 to 10 years of purchasing experience in electronic components and at least 4 years in team leadership.
- Strong understanding of the electronics supply chain, from manufacturing through distribution/brokering and ultimately to OEMs.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing procurement teams.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders.
- Proficient in digital and analytical platforms, including Microsoft Office, PowerBI, ChatGPT, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment.
