The Senior Executive of Strategic Communications and Futures Planning is responsible for driving communication strategies that align with the organisations strategic and innovation objectives, community development goals, and long-term sustainability plans. This individual will curate and facilitate conversations across all levels within the organisation to inspire and shape the future together, while actively engaging with external stakeholders to ensure resource mobilisation for ongoing and future initiatives.

As a key member of the S&T team, he/she will oversee the development and implementation of effective communication channels, ensuring that the division's work, key achievements, and objectives are clearly articulated to internal and external stakeholders. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, creative communication, stakeholder management, and a deep understanding of the organisations mission and vision.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Strategic Communications Planning and Execution

  • Develop and implement integrated communication strategies that support the organisations long-term strategic goals, ensuring alignment with the overall vision and mission.
  • Oversee the creation of messaging frameworks and communication tools to effectively communicate S&Ts objectives, programs, and initiatives both internally and externally.
  • Ensure that communication efforts are forward-thinking and responsive to emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of communication efforts to ensure strategic goals are being met, and adjust strategies as necessary to improve outcomes.

2. Futures Planning and Visioning

  • Facilitate and curate conversations across the organisation to collectively envision and define the future direction, ensuring that all voices across the organisation are heard.
  • Design and implement workshops, brainstorming sessions, and strategy meetings to help staff, leadership, and key stakeholders think critically about long-term sustainability and organisational growth.
  • Lead efforts in futures planning to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges that may affect the organisation, and develop communication strategies to address them.
  • Identify and implement social innovation projects that address key social concerns within the organisations service boundaries.

3. Resource Mobilization and Sustainability

  • Work closely with the development teams to identify and secure resources, both financial and non-financial, to support strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to engage potential donors, partners, and supporters in the organisations mission and vision for the future.
  • Track and report on resource development activities and progress, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure long-term sustainability.

4. Internal Communications and Organisational Culture

  • Curate and maintain effective internal communication channels to ensure all employees are engaged with the organisations strategic goals and key projects.
  • Develop content for internal newsletters, presentations, and other communication vehicles that keep employees engaged with the organisations vision and mission.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture through communication strategies that promote cross-functional alignment, employee engagement, shared sense of purpose.

5. Reporting and Evaluation

  • Develop comprehensive reports on communication activities, tracking effectiveness of campaigns and the impact of strategic messaging on organisational goals.
  • Provide recommendations for improving communication strategies based on data and feedback, ensuring continuous improvement in messaging and engagement.

Candidate Profile:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Social Work, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in indirect social work, strategic communications, community development, or a similar field, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Proven experience in designing and executing communication strategies that align with long-term strategic planning goals.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders and partners to secure resources for sustainability, including fundraising or grant writing experience.
  • Strong track record of successful internal communications and employee engagement.

Work Arrangements
