Job Title: Flight Paramedic

Job Summary:

Flight Paramedics provide advanced life support care to critically ill or injured patients during air transport. They work as part of a medical team to ensure the safe and effective transportation of patients. Valid Paramedic certification (e.g., PCP, ACP) and advanced life support certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and provide advanced life support care during transport.

2. Air Transport Operations: Participate in air transport operations, including preparing patients and equipment for transport, monitoring patients during flight, and providing care during emergency situations.

3. Communication and Coordination: Communicate effectively with medical teams, pilots, and other stakeholders to ensure safe and effective patient transport.

4. Medical Equipment and Supplies: Ensure that all medical equipment and supplies are properly maintained, inspected, and certified for use during air transport.

5. Safety Protocols: Adhere to established safety protocols, including those related to patient transport, emergency procedures, and aircraft safety.

6. Documentation and Reporting: Complete accurate and timely documentation of patient care and transport operations.

7. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality patient care and transport operations.

8.Special Flight Operations: Flight paramedics involved in special flight operations, such as air shows or aerial demonstrations, must comply with the regulations outlined in Standard 623 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations 

Requirements:

1. Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Paramedic, with experience in critical care or air transport preferred.

2. Education: Diploma or degree in Paramedicine or a related field.

3. Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move patients, equipment, and supplies, and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

4. Mental Demands: Ability to work under pressure, make sound decisions, and remain calm in emergency situations.
