Job Title: Transportation Manager
Job Summary:
The Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the transportation of goods, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective transportation operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Route Planning and Optimization: Plan and optimize transportation routes to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and ensure on-time delivery.
2. Carrier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with transportation carriers, negotiate rates, and manage carrier performance.
3. Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of company-owned vehicles, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
4. Safety and Compliance: Ensure transportation operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, and implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
5. Budgeting and Cost Control: Manage transportation budgets, analyze costs, and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
6. Performance Metrics and Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure transportation efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
7. Communication and Collaboration: Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including logistics, warehousing, and customer service teams
Education
1. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Associate's degree or diploma in a related field, with relevant experience.
Experience
1. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in transportation management, logistics, or a related field.
2. Proven track record of success in managing transportation operations, including experience with route planning, carrier management, and safety compliance.
