Aerodynamics Lead Engineer

About Our Client: Our client is an ambitious and well-funded startup in the aerospace sector, focused on developing next-generation eVTOL (Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft. They are at the forefront of aviation innovation and are looking for an expert to lead their aerodynamics project.

The Role: They are seeking a highly skilled Aerodynamics Lead Engineer to provide technical direction and lead the development team in designing the airframe, thrust placement, and other detailed aerodynamic elements for our eVTOL aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development plan for aerodynamics, including wind tunnel testing, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations, and scale model testing.
  • Collaborate with the product manager and other development leaders to drive the overall eVTOL project.
  • Design an aircraft that achieves aerodynamic stability, efficiency, and aesthetic appeal at high speeds.
  • Oversee the design and development of critical aerodynamic components, including tandem wings, hovering rotor blades, and pusher-type configurations.
  • Develop and manage aerodynamic project plans.
  • Build and manage test environments for wind tunnel testing, CFD simulations, and scale modeling.
  • Lead test flights and analyze flight logs to ensure optimal aerodynamic performance.

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of engineering experience in aeronautics or aerospace fields.
  • Open to diverse educational backgrounds, ages, and nationalities.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience as an aerodynamic engineer in the aviation industry.
  • Experience in designing entire aircraft, either professionally or through personal/student projects.
  • Proficiency in aerodynamic evaluation using large wind tunnels and CFD simulations.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft and automotive safety systems (e.g., ASIL, ISO 26262).
  • Knowledge of multicopter control, flight dynamics, and autonomous systems.
  • Managerial or lead engineering experience.
  • Over 7 years of engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in vehicle or drone development (e.g., aircraft, automotive, robotics).
  • Strong understanding of design, development, manufacturing, and testing processes.
  • Business-level English proficiency.
  • Basic knowledge of eVTOL technology.
  • Experience in negotiating with suppliers, obtaining safety certifications, and managing mass production.

What We Look For:

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent coaching and leadership abilities.
  • Broad expertise in aerodynamics and development.
  • Ability to work at the cutting edge of new technology.
  • Capable of leading a high-performing team.
