About the job 2023 Graduate Trainee Program - Freight Operations
This is an 18-month program to equip you with foundation knowledge and professional skills in the Freight operations team. Through a mixture of structured and on-the-job training in vessel operations/execution/laytime functions, as well as mentoring from dedicated seniors and business leaders, you would gain deeper understanding of the business and competencies that are essential to furthering your career growth in Freight operations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Communicate and liaise with vessel owners/ship masters/charterers, trading team and other relevant stakeholders on voyage instructions
- Manage assigned external relations with customers and / or suppliers
- Executing the end-to-end assigned vessels operations for dry-cargo ships
- Support process improvement initiatives as required
- Collaborate effectively with other Freight Commercial traders and execution team
- Following up on post-fixture activities
Knowledge, experience and competencies required:
- Diploma/Degree in maritime Studies or equivalent
- 0 to 2 years of working experience in maritime/shipping or relevant industry
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with ability to manage data sets
- Ability to work independently and handle conditions of uncertainty
- Attention to details and self-driven to follow-through on tasks
- Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of shipping system such as IMOS and shipping contract knowledge a plus
