Overview:

Lawson Enterprises is partnering with a leading company in the Industrial Engineering and Environmental Solutions industry to hire an experienced Electrical Engineer in Addison, TX.

This role requires extensive experience in full electrical system design, including internal component design. The Electrical Engineer will play a key role in developing technical designs for electrical panels, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop complete technical designs for electrical panels, including:
    • Junction boxes
    • Heater control panels
    • Programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
    • Motor starter panels
    • Variable frequency drives
    • General motor controls
  • Design and layout internal panel components for engineered products.
  • Generate detailed engineering drawings such as:
    • Panel external layouts
    • Back panel internal layouts
    • Wiring diagrams
  • Develop and understand logic diagrams including SAMA process control logic and Boolean ladder logic.
  • Interpret P&IDs and translate components to panel designs, wiring diagrams, and logic diagrams.
  • Create supplementary engineering deliverables, including:
    • One-line diagrams
    • Cause and effect tables
    • Cable schedules
    • Conduit and routing plans
  • Provide technical support to fabricators during equipment production.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and factory acceptance tests at fabrication facilities.
  • Maintain communication with customers, suppliers, fabricators, and sales teams to ensure successful project execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing electrical systems.
  • Proven experience designing control panels using relay or PLC/DCS control.
  • Knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70) standards, including applications in both non-hazardous and Class 1, Division 2 hazardous environments.
  • Working knowledge of UL-508A panel design.
  • Solid understanding of industrial analog and discrete circuits.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for design and drafting.
  • Strong technical writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with plant process control and monitoring systems.
  • Experience with PLC layout and design.
  • Background in utility, refinery, or petrochemical industries.
  • Knowledge of designing, implementing, and testing HART protocol systems.
