This growing behavioral health practice is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support patients receiving Spravato treatments. This is a highly structured, safety-focused role supporting patients with treatment-resistant depression in a calm, monitored clinical setting. This position is ideal for an MA who thrives in a supportive environment, values meaningful patient interaction, and is comfortable in behavioral health.
Position Overview
The Medical Assistant will support the administration and monitoring of Spravato treatments under provider supervision. This role includes patient intake, vital sign monitoring, extended observation periods, and strict compliance with REMS safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Preparation
- Verify consent, transportation arrangements, and eligibility screening
- Obtain and document baseline vital signs (especially blood pressure)
- Prepare quiet, low-stimulation treatment rooms
Treatment Support
- Observe patient self-administration of intranasal medication
- Document dosing and timing
- Provide patient education on what to expect
Post-Treatment Monitoring (Minimum 2 Hours)
- Monitor and document vital signs at required intervals
- Observe for sedation, elevated BP, nausea, dissociation, or distress
- Provide reassurance and comfort support
- Alert provider to any abnormal findings
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate REMS documentation
- Assist with medication inventory tracking
- Ensure proper disposal and documentation procedures
Qualifications
- Excellent bedside manner
- Strong vital sign and documentation skills – especially blood pressure
- Calm, emotionally steady presence
- Experience in behavioral health preferred
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and patient confidentiality
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- 8 a.m. to 430 p.m.
