Duties and Responsibilities
Sustainability
Sustainability is at the core of everything we do at Banyan Group. As Decarbonization Manager, He/She will ensure all directives on environmental protection and preservation, re-usage, and minimum wastage, purchasing and reducing 40% Carbon emission throughout group by 2030, social responsibility and all other practices documented in the Sustainability Guidelines are followed in the department to maintain a harmonious and sensitive approach to our environment and cultural surroundings.
Operational Ownership
In this role, He/She will support the AVP Engineering for the efficient operation of the AVP Engineering with a concentrated effort on energy conservation, sustainability. He/She will also ensure that rostering and manning are adequate to meet the requirements, plus organize external contractors as required.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the property's energy conservation management and shared responsibility and technical support for sustainability projects.
- Manage asst. Sustainability manager and water manager.
- Setting up energy benchmark for all properties.
- Making sure all property under Central Engineering meets the energy benchmark.
- Lead the energy conservation team on each Hotel.
- Monitoring data input monthly for earth check and terrascope platform.
- Give training for energy champion for each property
- Lead correction for energy consumption for each property.
- Coordinate all energy conservation activities on property, coordinates the audits for energy conservation.
- Making a corporate direction for energy saving program.
- Analyze, plan and strategize all report coming from all each properties.
- Keep doing research and making an effort to reduce carbon emission throughout the group.
By keeping abreast of industry trends and practices and updating knowledge and skills to
improve the product and service offering, He/She will support and continually focus on
improving maintenance and engineering practices to ensure the product remains in optimal
order and in keeping with Banyan Group wellness and sustainability practices.
A high standard of personal appearance, grooming and hygiene, plus comprehensive
knowledge of safety, security and emergency procedures will be maintained by myself and all
associates in line with brand and statutory requirements.
Purchasing practices will meet the requirements of the Banyan Group sustainability platform,
while stocktakes and storage assessment will be undertaken at the required times to ensure all
stock is on hand, properly stored and in line with Banyan Group standards.
In the event of guest complaints, He/She will effectively carry out service recovery or charge
our associates to do so to the satisfaction of guests.
Interaction and communications between Engineering and other departments within the resort
are clear and effectively maintained to support the smooth running of the resort. He/She will
perform any additional duties given to me by the Engineering Manager and/or General Manager.
Administration
Forecasting and reporting requirements for the role will be completed accurately, on time and
maintained for reference. Corrective action will be taken immediately when issues are
identified, particularly for maintenance concerns. The required meetings and briefings are to
be attended or conducted, as instructed by the AVP Engineering and/or General Manager.
Quality
Banyan Group guidelines and standards of service and operation will be adopted and followed
by all Engineering associates so that our performance benchmarks are maintained and exceeded. Product and service quality is continually reviewed through my physical presence in rooms and public areas on a regular basis and our rigorous adherence to LQA standards.
Energy efficiency is maintained for all equipment and an effective system for recording and
reporting all utility consumption is in place. Service and product maintenance issues are
promptly rectified. All activities within the department will be carried out ethically, honestly and within the parameters of local law.
Financial Performance
In this role, He/She will instill a focused philosophy through training and education to reduce
the properties carbon footprint which in turn will reduce the monthly energy consumption and
monthly expenses of the portion of the P&L. Pay The departmental operational budget will be
strictly adhered to and all costs will be continually monitored and controlled to drive
profitability, while taking into consideration the preservation of required standards with every
decision made. Forecasting is undertaken on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual
basis to ensure budgets are met and profits exceeded.
People Management
As Decarbonization Manager, He/She will support the AVP Engineering on the management and development of all associates within the departments through the provision of direction, delegation, interaction, encouragement and enthusiasm, discipline, training, performance evaluation and counselling to build a loyal, productive, and effective team.
He/She will ensure our associates report for duty punctually, wear the correct attire and
deliver friendly, courteous, consistent, and efficient service always.
General
In this role, He/She will behave in a professional manner and set an example to all. He/She
will abide by Banyan Group principles, core values, best practices, guidelines, and objectives,
while respecting other cultures and nationalities and projecting a positive and proactive
position to help build and maintain a strong, loyal team.
Skills and Experience
To execute the position of Decarbonization Manager, He/She has the required
qualifications, technical skills, and experience in a similar in luxury hotels with proven results.
He/She possess a minimum of a College Technical Diploma or degree in Engineering in either
Mechanical or Electrical disciplines and more than five years experience in a similar hotel
engineering role.
He/She a personally involved, visible and proactive leader with excellent organizational skills,
capable of providing focused direction and continuing to maintain the propertys prominent
position within the market. He/She possesses a well-developed capability for strategic
decision-making and a track record of proven results. In terms of maintenance management, He/She have an intuitive sense of product and service quality, a passion for excellence and an understanding of the sophisticated needs of the luxury customer.
My financial acumen positions me as a business savvy leader with demonstrated financial
understanding and interpretation of reports plus cost and inventory control.
From a people management perspective, He/She a responsive, engaged, and interactive leader,
capable of building strong positive relationships with associates that results in a shared vision
of success for the operation, demonstrated ability to leverage shared resources, undertake
training as needed and to manage through influence.
Technical skills include the ability to analyze and design projects, conduct investigations and
maintain full knowledge of engineering-related products and services used in resorts. From a
technology perspective, He/She am competent in Advanced MS Office - Word Excel and
Outlook. He/She have an excellent command of written and spoken English with some
knowledge of the local language and customs.
He/She will maintain a thorough understanding of Banyan Group in terms of guidelines, rules
and regulations, brand and operating standards, facilities, and services.
