Job Title: Chief Accountant 

Job Summary:
The Chief Accountant will oversee the financial operations of the hotel, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This role will manage financial reporting, accounting tasks, tax compliance, and contribute to the overall financial strategy to optimize profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and assist with the hotels financial closing processes.
  • Monitor and ensure accurate financial records for the hotel, including income, expenses, and other financial transactions.
  • Review and supervise work completed by the Accounts Payable (AP) Shared Service team.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, balance sheets, and profit/loss reports.
  • Perform account reconciliations and prepare quarterly financial schedules.
  • Manage tax filings and liaise with tax agents on direct and indirect taxes.
  • Oversee the hotels internal control processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards and hotel policies.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring that financial targets are met.
  • Manage payroll processing and related reports.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior accounting staff and train new hires when necessary.
  • Coordinate and work with auditors during year-end financial audits.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international hotel accounting standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in hotel accounting software (e.g., Accpac, Opera, or similar) and experience with GL tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of JV reconciliation, payroll accounting, and hotel-specific financial reporting.
  • Expertise in Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of VAT, income tax, and other applicable taxes in the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent accounting certification is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior accounting role, preferably in the hospitality industry.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong leadership abilities and experience managing an accounting team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations and financial systems.
  • Experience working overseas or in an international environment is highly preferred.
