Job description  Transports students to and from school, following a preplanned route according to a definite time schedule but never sacrifice safety to maintain a schedule  Regulates heating equipment and ventilation of bus for comfort of passengers.  Drives bus carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations.  Assumes responsibility for the safety of school children in loading, unloading and transporting them to and from school.  Instructs children in safety precautions and practices.  Inspects and sweeps bus.  Checks water, gas, oil and mechanical condition before leaving on run.  Reports delays and accidents.  Keeps operational records and makes simple reports.  Reports defects or problems with vehicle to shop supervisor.  Assures bus meets regular maintenance schedules.  The driver shall not:  Leave the bus with motor running.  Fill the gasoline tank while children are on the bus.  Allow anyone except pupils and those authorized to ride the school bus  Move the bus unless all riders are properly seated and in seat belts.  Never put a child off the bus to walk home  Bus driver will check all seats and interior of bus after each use of bus to transport students.  The driver shall set an example by dignified personal behavior and professionalism  The driver shall have clean conversation and maintain the respect and obedience due the driver from all pupils  Drivers shall maintain order among the children at all times when they are being transported to and from school  Drivers shall Never strike a child or use corporal punishment  Drivers shall Never use profane or indecent language within the hearing of the pupils, and tolerate none from the pupils  Drivers shall Always be patient, kind and firm  Drivers shall maintain a list on board the bus of all children authorized by the director to ride the bus, and indicate daily the children actually riding the bus.  Drivers shall do a visual walk through of bus before route starts  Drivers shall do any other duties that need to be done to complete daily operation.
