Senior Process Engineer - Oil and Gas Industry

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer with a strong background in the oil and gas industry. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive experience in designing, optimizing, and implementing efficient processes for hydrocarbon production, refining, or transportation facilities. They will play a key role in evaluating, troubleshooting, and enhancing process systems to ensure safety, compliance, and productivity across operations.

Responsibilities:

• Process Design & Optimization: Develop, review, and enhance process designs for oil and gas production or refining units to improve efficiency and safety
• Technical Leadership: Provide expert advice on process design standards and best practices to support ongoing and new projects
• Project Coordination: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers, to ensure seamless integration of process designs
• Risk & Safety Compliance: Perform process safety analyses (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) and ensure designs meet industry safety standards and regulatory compliance
• Troubleshooting & Analysis: Identify and resolve process bottlenecks and inefficiencies through in-depth analysis and data interpretation
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
• Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for continuous improvement by staying up-to-date with industry advancements and integrating new technologies where applicable

Requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
• Ideally 10 years of experience in a similar role within the oil and gas industry (mandatory)
• Available to relocate to Iraq
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II) and knowledge of process safety management systems.
• Strong understanding of oil and gas regulations, environmental standards, and health and safety requirements
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement cost-effective solutions
• Excellent interpersonal skills for cross-departmental coordination and technical reporting

Preferred Skills:

• Relevant certifications such as PMP or P.E. (Professional Engineer) are a plus
• Proficiency in additional engineering software and tools (e.g., MATLAB, AutoCAD) for advanced data analysis and system design
