About the job Director, Treasury
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the treasury strategy to optimize liquidity, funding, and capital management in alignment with the organization's business objectives.
- Oversee daily liquidity, cash flow, and funding activities to ensure sufficient resources for business operations while minimizing funding costs.
- Manage asset and liability management (ALM), balance sheet optimization, and interest rate risk to support the firm's financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with MAS regulations, Basel III/IV requirements, and internal treasury governance, including regulatory reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with banking partners, financial institutions, and market counterparties to support funding and treasury activities.
- Lead treasury risk management by monitoring liquidity, funding, foreign exchange, and market risks, and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Drive treasury transformation initiatives through process improvements, automation, and the implementation of treasury technologies and reporting tools.
- Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Front Office teams while providing strategic treasury insights and recommendations to senior management.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline; professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, ACT, or FRM are advantageous.
- Minimum 12 years of treasury experience within an investment bank, wholesale bank, broker-dealer, or large financial institution.
- Strong expertise in liquidity management, funding, cash management, asset and liability management (ALM), and balance sheet optimization.
- Sound knowledge of MAS regulations, Basel III/IV, Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR), and capital management.
- Experience managing treasury risks, including interest rate, foreign exchange, and funding risks.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders across the organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with experience driving treasury process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in regional or international financial institutions; exposure to Japanese banking environments is an advantage.
