We are seeking a Sales Application Engineer to support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for high-voltage electrical transmission and service-based projects. This role works closely with sales, engineering, operations, supply chain, and global factories to deliver competitive, compliant, and value-driven offers to customers across Malaysia and the APAC region.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer RFQs and develop end-to-end technical and commercial proposals aligned with OEM value and customer requirements.
  • Lead cost integration, pricing analysis, and risk assessment (technical and commercial) prior to final quotation submission.
  • Prepare and compile tender documentation, including drawings, technical data sheets, BOMs, method statements, project schedules, and QHSE documentation.
  • Coordinate with regional and global engineering teams, factories, and operations to optimize configurations, resolve technical clarifications, and manage scope changes.
  • Issue and manage outside purchase RFQs, working closely with supply chain and vendors to ensure compliant and competitive sourcing.
  • Support sales activities, including product presentations, customer meetings, site walk-downs, negotiations, and follow-ups.
  • Manage order processing and revisions, including booking customer orders, spare parts orders, and coordination with factories and suppliers.
  • Identify cost, time, and process improvement opportunities, capturing lessons learned and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of proposal libraries, templates, visuals, and inputs into go-to-market strategies and business cases.
  • Support localization initiatives to enhance competitiveness and business growth in the Malaysia and APAC markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in sales engineering, proposal engineering, or engineering roles within the high-voltage electrical / transmission industry.
  • Prior experience working with major electrical contractors or OEMs, especially in service-based or project quotations.
  • Strong understanding of HV transmission systems and industry practices in Malaysia and the APAC region.
  • Exposure to site, field service, or operations roles is a strong advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel, with working knowledge of SAP and Salesforce.
  • Strong commercial awareness, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multicultural and global teams.
  • Professional proficiency in English; Mandarin or other Asian languages will be an advantage to interact with the team from SEA countries.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with the ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
