Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons in Secondary School Music, adhering to IB MYP and DP curriculum standards.
- Guide students through creative exploration, practical performance, and critical analysis of diverse musical forms and traditions.
- Direct and manage various instrumental and/or vocal ensembles, preparing students for school and community performances.
- Consistently incorporate IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, such as communication and social skills, into all Music lessons.
- Create and administer varied assessments that align with IB standards, including internal and external DP Music submissions.
- Work collaboratively with other Arts teachers (Visual Art, Design, Drama) on interdisciplinary units and school-wide projects.
- Coordinate and manage school concerts, recitals, and other public music events throughout the academic year.
- Oversee the maintenance, inventory, and safe use of all music equipment, instruments, and practice spaces.
Requirements
- A recognized, valid teaching certification or qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) is mandatory.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Music or Music Education.
- Prior experience teaching the IB MYP and/or DP Music is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated work experience with a history of professional stability, avoiding job hopping every 1–2 years.
- High level of competence in a primary instrument or voice, with experience in ensemble direction.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience utilizing music technology for composition, recording, and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a faculty team.
