About the job Secondary School Design Teacher (IB)
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging lessons in Secondary School Design Technology, adhering to IB MYP and DP standards.
- Guide students through the entire Design Cycle (Inquiring, Developing, Creating, Evaluating) for various design challenges.
- Teach and supervise students in the safe and proper use of both traditional and digital tools (e.g., workshop tools, 3D printers, CAD software).
- Cultivate students technical and digital literacy skills relevant to modern design fields, such as coding, robotics, or material science.
- Embed IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, particularly research and thinking skills, into all design projects.
- Create and administer varied assessments that align with IB standards, including the MYP Design ePortfolio and relevant DP assessments.
- Oversee the organization, maintenance, and inventory of the Design studio, workshop, and equipment, ensuring safety compliance.
- Collaborate with Science and Mathematics teachers to develop interdisciplinary STEM or STEAM units.
Requirements :
- A recognized, valid teaching certification or qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) is mandatory.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Design Technology, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Prior experience teaching the IB MYP and/or DP Design Technology is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated work experience with a history of professional stability, avoiding job hopping every 1–2 years.
- Certification or extensive knowledge of workshop safety procedures and equipment operation.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Expert proficiency in relevant industry-standard design and fabrication software (e.g., CAD/CAM, 3D modelling).
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a faculty team.
