Logistic Operations Director

We are looking for an experienced Logistics Operations Director to lead and develop the logistics operations of a fast-growing convenience retail business in Romania.

Our client is part of a large international retail group operating a rapidly expanding network of convenience stores across Central and Eastern Europe. As the business continues to grow in Romania, the company is building the logistics infrastructure required to support its expansion and ensure a reliable, scalable supply chain.

This is a high-impact leadership role, combining strategic planning with hands-on operational responsibility, including the implementation of a new warehouse facility and the development of the logistics organization.

Key Responsibilities

New Warehouse Implementation

• Lead the end-to-end setup and Go-Live of a new warehouse, from initial planning and facility design through to operational launch.

• Define warehouse requirements, including layout, racking, material handling equipment (MHE), operational flows and safety infrastructure.

• Coordinate the implementation, integration and testing of the WMS and other logistics-related IT solutions.

• Manage project timelines, budgets, suppliers, contractors and external partners.

• Build and implement the operational structure required for the new facility.

• Recruit, develop and onboard the warehouse team and local operational leadership.

• Ensure the warehouse is fully operational and ready to support business requirements at Go-Live.

Logistics Strategy & Operations

• Develop and implement the logistics strategy in line with the company's growth plans and commercial objectives.

• Oversee the operations of the warehouse network, ensuring efficient use of space, people, equipment and resources.

• Lead and develop warehouse and logistics management teams, creating a high-performance and continuous-improvement culture.

• Ensure effective inventory management and stock accuracy, while minimizing stockouts and unnecessary inventory costs.

• Optimize the distribution of products to the company's convenience store network, balancing service levels, delivery performance and transportation costs.

• Define, monitor and improve operational KPIs, including productivity, warehouse efficiency, stock accuracy, service level and delivery performance.

• Identify and implement initiatives aimed at cost optimization and operational efficiency.

• Continuously review and improve logistics processes, workflows and operating standards.

• Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety, quality and regulatory requirements.

• Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including store operations, suppliers, logistics partners and transportation providers.

• Act as a key contributor to the company's ongoing logistics transformation and expansion in Romania.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in logistics operations, with significant experience in warehouse management and distribution.

• Previous experience managing warehouse operations and/or logistics networks in a retail, FMCG or similarly fast-paced environment.

• Proven experience in warehouse setup, relocation, expansion or implementation projects is highly desirable.

• Strong experience in people leadership and organizational development.

• Good understanding of WMS, inventory management and logistics IT systems.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Experience working with operational KPIs, budgets and cost optimization initiatives.

• Strong project management and stakeholder management capabilities.

• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing and changing business environment.

• Excellent organizational skills and a hands-on, results-oriented approach.

• Fluent Romanian and English.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in FMCG, retail or convenience retail.

• Experience with new warehouse implementation or greenfield logistics projects.

• Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certification.

• Strong data analysis and reporting skills.

• Experience working in an international organization or within a rapidly scaling business.
