Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees the delivery of the Youth and Teen Program each voyage.
- Ensures all programs and activities take place safely and securely for children and teens ages 3-17 years.
- Always interacts positively with parents and children.
- Actively, consistently, and constantly supervises staff and program participants.
- Regularly prepares and timely publishes activity schedules for all age groups in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Creates fair and consistent staff schedules to ensure all activities and events are delivered efficiently.
- Regularly coordinates with the Cruise Director to plan and deliver events in public venues.
- Always plans and organizes effective and age-appropriate activities.
- Initiates and implements innovative ideas for new activities and programs while ensuring the safety and security of each participant.
- Observes passengers' reactions to programmed Youth and Teen events while always showing genuine interest; adjusts programs accordingly.
- Delivers proper coaching to ensure that all Youth and Teen staff provide an immediate positive first impression to every parent and child through a warm, welcoming individual greeting.
- Serves as the primary representative of the Youth and Teen Program for parents and their children; maintains continual and conscientious presence in the centers.
- Always responds promptly to resolve parental requests and concerns, following up with passengers as appropriate, escalating/reporting to management as necessary, and suggesting strategies to avoid or mitigate future occurrences.
- Promptly completes performance appraisals that are fair, objective, and accurate measurements based on observed behavior.
- Identifies top performers and mentors them for career advancement or promotion.
- Conducts regular staff meetings to communicate policies, encourage initiation of ideas for new activities, discuss issues, and coordinate solutions.
- Manages all Youth Staff orientations and trainings.
- Participates productively in onboard entertainment meetings and promptly communicates relevant departmental information to direct reports.
- Provides timely, accurate, and objective Youth Program end-of voyage reports to the Cruise Director for approval.
- Timely and regularly reorders supplies to ensure optimal inventory levels at all times.
- Ensures prompt and accurate Youth Program documentation and administration, including registration cards, sign-in sheets and forms, Passenger in Focus files, and incident reports.
- Carefully manages and controls department costs and inventory levels in line with established guidelines.
- Ensures compliance with Fleet Regulations, departmental policies and procedures, and other applicable internal, external, and governmental regulations.
- Constantly monitors the condition of the Youth and Teen facilities and promptly requests necessary equipment repairs via the Cruise Director.
- Immediately notifies Cruise Director of all incidents and issues; ensures all incidents are properly documented.
- Always maintains a safe and secure environment for all Youth Program participants.
- Promptly performs General Emergency Organization duties as directed.
- Demonstrates commitment to the Companys values, beliefs, goals, and initiatives.
- Acts as a Company representative and always portrays a positive image of Princess Cruises to all passengers, officers, and crew.
- Always maintains professional, effective, and motivated working relationships across all functions, taking into account differences in cultures, backgrounds, and individual personalities.
Qualifications:
- Degree in teaching/education, recreation, nursing, or psychology preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent highly preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a youth care-related or teaching field and/or has worked with children in a recreational or educational setting.
