About the job Salesforce Field Service Architect / Tech Lead

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Salesforce Field Service Architect or Tech Lead to design and lead the delivery of Salesforce Field Service implementations for businesses that send technicians and crews out to customer sites. You will own the solution design, guide the delivery team, and work directly with client stakeholders to make sure the platform fits how field operations actually run day to day.

This role is based in Australia, Sydney preferred. The right candidate has been through full Field Service implementations before and can talk to both a dispatcher and a CIO.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Design end to end Salesforce Field Service solutions, including work orders, service appointments, service territories, resources, skills, and scheduling policies
  • Lead discovery and design workshops with operations, dispatch, and IT stakeholders
  • Translate field operations requirements into scalable, maintainable Salesforce solutions
  • Own the solution blueprint, data model, and security model
  • Design the mobile experience, including offline capability for technicians working in low coverage areas

Technical Leadership

  • Lead and mentor developers and consultants on the delivery team
  • Run code reviews and set design pattern standards across Apex, LWC, and Flow
  • Define the DevOps approach, including CI/CD, release management, and environment strategy
  • Tune scheduling and optimisation so dispatch results match real world constraints

Integration & Data

  • Architect integrations with ERP, asset management, inventory, billing, and mapping systems using REST/SOAP APIs and middleware
  • Plan data migration for customers, assets, locations, work history, and service contracts
  • Support reporting and dashboards for operations and management

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the technical lead with the client and the wider project team
  • Present design options and trade-offs to senior stakeholders
  • Work closely with the project manager, business analysts, and testers
  • Support go-live, hypercare, and handover to the client support team

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Have

  • 8+ years of hands-on Salesforce experience
  • 3+ years as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or Tech Lead
  • Hands-on delivery of at least two full Salesforce Field Service implementations
  • Strong understanding of Service Cloud and how it connects to Field Service
  • Experience leading technical teams on client-facing projects
  • Based in Australia with full working rights, Sydney preferred
  • Clear communication with both business and technical audiences

Technical Depth

  • Salesforce Field Service: scheduling, optimisation, service territories, work types, skills, and the Field Service mobile app
  • Apex, Lightning Web Components, and Flow
  • Integration architecture and API-led connectivity
  • Security model design, including sharing rules and field-level security
  • Data modelling and migration for assets, locations, and work orders
  • DevOps tooling and CI/CD practices (e.g. Copado, Gearset, SF CLI)

Preferred Certifications

  • Salesforce Certified Application Architect
  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA) is highly valued

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience with MuleSoft or other enterprise middleware
  • Experience with asset-heavy industries such as Utilities, Telecommunications, or Energy
  • Experience with Agile delivery at scale
  • Prior consulting or Salesforce partner experience

WHAT SETS YOU APART

  • You have seen a Field Service project go live and know what breaks in the first month
  • You can explain a design decision to a dispatcher and defend it to a CIO
  • Comfortable making a call when requirements are unclear
  • Practical mindset with a focus on getting the solution live and working
