Position Description:
Okta is seeking a strong, experienced Revenue Accountant Lead who can multi-task and help drive our month-end close process. Attention to detail, strong communication and analytical skills are essential for this role along with the flexibility and ability to self-prioritize tasks to meet our key accounting month/quarter-end close deadlines. This person possesses solid leadership and decision-making skills with a proven track record of success in fast-paced, dynamic working environments. As the company grows, this person will provide valuable input on how we can drive efficiencies and scale our current processes around revenue-related transaction processing and related contract revenue recognition analysis. This role may also assist as needed in providing ASC606 SaaS technical revenue accounting guidance to two (2) Revenue Accountants. This person has a team-oriented work ethic, strong interpersonal skills and can effectively communicate cross-functionally across various groups. This person will be a strong collaborator working alongside the technical revenue accounting team.

This role reports to the Revenue Accounting Manager (US).
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support operationalization of processing contracts under ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers
- Prepare and/or provide first level review of our revenue checklists on sales arrangements as needed to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition accounting standards
- Review contracts to identify and summarize provisions which have an impact on revenue recognition
- Provide a key role in leading and overseeing the team in performing the transactional process for our revenue month-end close i.e. data validations, report reconciliations and other requests as needed
- Be able to identify, drilldown and track system issues as they may arise pertaining to our month-end close activities; partner with Business Systems to follow through on UAT testing and solutions
- Research accounting guidance and document Company’s position on various revenue transactions
- Prepare support for the monthly close package and internal/external audit as requested
- Partner with cross-functional groups across the business (Business Systems, Order Management, Billing and Collections) to review and address various inquiries/issues related to revenue operations and accounting
- Ad hoc requests as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience in the technology industry preferred
- Experience in a supervisory/ lead role desired
- Working knowledge of ASC 606 preferred
- CPA and/or public accounting experience is a plus
- Ability to work within a team as well as take the initiative independently and perform as a self-starter
- Detail-oriented with good analytical skills
