Nippon Express (NX) is a top 10 international freight forwarder, a Japan-based logistics company with a global reputation. 6 years ago, a non-Japanese sales team was created in Singapore to develop business and relationships with leading potential customers globally to win business. This team reports to the GM based in Singapore, he is directly reporting to Japan.
Tender management was an integral function that was needed to ensure the quality and focus on these RFQs enabled NX to secure and grow business. After years of success, Global Business Solutions was created in January of 2023 to scale up its offering to a defined list of accounts and offer best-in-class tender support to other accounts outside of the initial team. Our robust Business Intelligence team integrates Data and Market Intelligence into our tender process. The combination of bid data analytics and a traditional freight forwarding approach has proven to be a successful strategy.
We are expanding now, and you will be part of the team in creating a more efficient, more successful approach to RFQ management and business growth for this next exciting step in our growth plans. Part of this will be to select and develop new platforms that optimize our output but also focus on winning.
The main responsibilities of a Tender Analyst include:
- Responsible for managing the end-to-end tender process (RFQ/RFP) of targeted customers (Global Business Solutions ((GBS/Global Accounts)), which would include analysis, coordination, and pricing to provide a customized solution package that would secure business opportunities, in-line with overall business and revenue objectives set by the department head.
- Proactively updating and maintaining RFQ cycles, tender calendar, Pipeline, and other reports
- Leading/supporting RFQ internal strategy alignment discussion internally with different stakeholders
- Follow up with Account Owners to provide pre and post-RFQ analysis for critical RFQ and post-cost analysis
- Support Account owner by liaising directly with customers during RFQ/RFP briefings, Q&A sessions before bid launch, and follow-up, after bid submission
- Timely tender submission to customers on behalf of bid owners (e-submission, email, online uploading, etc)
- Develop proposal/quotations and identify associated risks involved in the potential engagement of the company regional manager for review and input
- Support the communication with Global/Regional product/functional departments to understand local and regional needs to develop customized responses required in the tender scope
- Work with the Marketing & Sales departments of these countries to secure country, regional, and/or global contracts for targeted customers' RFQs/RFPs
- Work with Ocean/Air Freight Procurement to develop quality freight pricing and analysis with the help of various Air Freight tools and feedback to compile market intelligence.
- Decide and seek management approval on critical issues about bid requirements and approach.
- Analyse pricing responses against benchmarks, AFR, OFR tools, current contract rates, etc.
- Develop and maintain tender management tools working with Business Intelligence to use smart analysis of bids and market rates.
To apply, you must be an expert on the following requirements:
- Graduated from college or university with majors in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, International Business, or related majors.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in the logistics / Freight Forwarding industry.
- Previous global/regional RFQ management experience is necessary. Strong candidates with experience in driving Global and Regional solutions will be given priority.
- Having experience in commercial/sales/management and or Air / Ocean products field will be an advantage.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders and influence them for decision-making.
- Strong Excel and ability to utilize software efficiently.
- Good at analysis skills and logical thinking.
- Strong team player and able to work with remote team
- Having the right attitude is crucial. A "Can do" and solution-driven mindset is essential.
