The Database Administrator is responsible for the administration, security, and upkeep of the current and future state database platforms and resources. The position will also identify, plan, execute, and document current database-related work and improvements along with future-state planning via agile methodologies and DevOps best practices. This position will be a technical resource across all teams that collaborate with the IT/OT teams and the services they provide.

The main responsibilities of a DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR include:

  • Database platform and resource creation
  • Database platform and resource administration
  • Database platform and resource security (including update management and security best practices)
  • Identifying areas for improvement and efficiencies across Database platforms, resources, and toolsets
  • Maintaining accurate and complete documentation of environments and work done, including change management processes
  • Collaborating with the IT/OT teams and stakeholders throughout the business and external partners to ensure excellence in customer service
  • Assisting IT (Information Technology) Leadership in database-related strategic planning
  • Other duties as assigned

To apply for the role, you must have the following:

  • 2yrs of demonstrated platform lifecycle and administration of complex Azure-based cloud and hybrid MSSQL environments (through MS SQL Server 2019 and Azure Managed Resources) within a www.novasourcepower.com Development/ Test/ Production deployment pipeline architecture, including VM (VIRTUAL MACHINES) / resource sizing and patching
  • 2yrs of demonstrated clustering creation and administration
  • 2yrs of experience in implementing, managing, and troubleshooting SQL Server Always On Availability Groups
  • 2yrs of demonstrated disaster recovery design and administration, including HA configurations and asynchronous data replication best practices
  • 2ys of demonstrated troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • 2yrs of demonstrated MSSQL performance monitoring, tuning, and escalation notification
  • Advanced demonstrated knowledge of administrative SQL/TSQL and dynamic management tools
  • Demonstrated Experience with PowerShell task automation scripting
  • Excellent analytical, organization, and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills

It will also be favorable if you have the following:

  • More than 2yrs of the required qualifications
  • Postgres SQL Server administration
  • NoSQL database administration including MongoDB
  • Azure systems administration experience (Windows and Linux)
  • AWS (Amazon Web Services) systems and database administration experience with SSIS /SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
  • Familiarity MSSQL-based certifications
