The HR Manager will provide robust generalist HR support to both employees and line management in EasyEquities APAC region, commencing with Philippines, as the South African-founded group establishes operations in this region. The HRBP will support the Chief HR Officer and Chief Operating Officer in the implementation of group HR strategy and development of an Agile HR culture in the APAC region.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Recruit suitable talent, conduct interviews & background checks, prepare offers and issue employment contracts.
  • Onboard and orientate newly appointed employees.
  • Draft and keep record of updated job descriptions / job specs.
  • Benchmark remuneration and benefits to ensure that compensation offered to employees is fair and market related.
  • Advertise new roles internally within the region and manage the process of the application and appointment of staff to new roles / promotions.
  • Implement Employee Wellness initiatives and support employees experiencing wellness challenges.
  • Ensure business compliance with all relevant employment legislation.
  • Develop standard HR documentation, draft necessary regional HR policies and procedures, as may be required, to provide clarity to staff and ensure guardrails for the EasyEquities APAC business. Ensure that staff have access to and understand all policies.
  • Maintain sound relationships with employees, remain accessible and approachable to support staff and department heads (Coaches and team leaders) with any people-challenges, including counselling staff and facilitating the resolution of conflicts or grievances. Escalate any situations that remain unresolved or unresolvable to the Chief Operating Officer or Chief HR Officer.
  • Together with the HR team at EasyEquities South African Head Quarters, implement suitable HR tools to automate HR processes for the EasyEquities business internationally.
  • Facilitate honest conversations with employees, department heads and teams that support the development of personal- and team-accountability, address behaviours inconsistent with company values and performance standards not met. Where required, the HRBP will assist the department head in initiating any disciplinary and / or performance management processes as may become necessary and will ensure that these processes are correctly followed.
  • Conduct exit interviews with exiting employees, provide feedback to Chief Operating Officer and Chief HR Officer, and take pro-active steps to ensure retention of staff.
  • Manage the OKR and KPI processes for all employees in the region. Collate and report on outcomes.
  • Manage the employee review processes, consolidation of results, reporting and bonus / incentive submissions to HQ.
  • Support, where required, any payroll administration and ensure timely execution of payroll deliverables
  • Support the continuous learning and development of employees.
  • Supported by the Chief HR Officer, implement initiatives and interventions to develop agile, self-directed teams.
  • Manage employee leave, ensuring that all staff take sufficient annual leave and that sick leave is properly managed.
  • Conduct regular Employee Surveys to assess employee happiness in the workplace and solicit feedback from employees, sharing this feedback and suggestions for improvements with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief HR Officer.
  • Work together with the global HR team to support the development of an Agile HR culture and support the APAC leadership team in achieving its people-objectives.
  • Represent the company in any employment dispute resolution processes, should this become necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements in related Philippines.

You are likely to be a good fit for this role if:

  • You are resident in Manilla, Philippines.
  • You have a strong background as an HR generalist (at least 5-10 years experience), ideally in the Fin-tech or Financial Services sectors.
  • You hold a degree in Industrial Psychology, Personnel Management or similar qualification.
  • You have a solid understanding of all relevant Philippines labour / employment legislation.
  • You have extensive hands-on experience in managing disciplinary, incapacity and poor performance processes.
  • You are adept at talent management, HR policy formulation and HR administration.
  • You have an understanding of HR Agile and support HR Agile as a business culture. An HR Agile certification would be an advantage, but not essential.
  • You are an enabler and facilitator of people-achievement, rather than a custodian of HR policy and procedures. 
  • You are flexible, objective and can make unbiased decisions.
  • You are a good listener, and proficient communicator in both English and Tagalog.
  • You possess strong interpersonal, conflict management and organisational skills.
  • You are highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio and Outlook.
  • Facilitation, counselling / mediation skills will be an advantage.
  • You are willing to travel regionally (APAC region) as well as internationally (South Africa) from time to time.
  • You are tech-savvy and have experience in implementing digital HR processes. You are adept at using Survey Monkey or similar data-collation / HR data-analytics tools.
  • You are passionate about people and can develop a relationship of trust and respect with a diverse workforce.
  • You are a committed team-player, but able to work independently.
  • Certification in Thomas International PPA Assessments and / or as Reiss Motivational Profile (RMP) Master or similar assessment tools would be an advantage, but not essential.
