To serve Hillsong employees through effective on-boarding, accurate and timely processing of payroll and courteous response to queries. To ensure compliance with all legal/regulatory obligations and timely reporting internally and externally as appropriate.

On-boarding New Staff and External Liaison - 20%

  • Receive, interpret and process recruitment data into the On-Boarding module for Australian payrolls.
  • Provide fringe benefits on-boarding documentation to new and existing employees as needed.
  • Transfer relevant information from the On-Boarding module to the payroll systems in a timely and accurate way.
  • Identify and action necessary workflows pursuant to discussions with Payroll software Providers, Superannuation Funds, Workers Compensation Insurers, Salary Packaging and Benefits and legislation.
  • Process terminations & assist exiting staff with all queries including provision of Employment Separation Certificates, final payslips, etc.
  • Respond to written and verbal enquiries from individual employees.

Payroll Preparation & Processing - 40%

  • Monitor and review approved employee variations, time sheets and leave forms before entry to the payroll system.
  • Monitor correctness, eligibility and timeliness of all payments.
  • Prepare and process fortnightly pays across numerous entities.
  • Calculate termination and other ad-hoc payments as required.
  • Process deductions and payments to outsourced packaging providers.

Payroll Administration & Auditing - 15%

  • Maintain the payroll systems in consultation with payroll providers.
  • Work with the payroll systems accountant to ensure payroll is accurately costed according to approved budgets.
  • Ensure audit substantiation in maintaining accurate pay records, employee records, leave records and associated information.
  • Work with recruitment and analysts to ensure regular audit of data for integrity and parity with Bamboo/HRIS

Payroll Reporting - 10%

  • Provide payroll reports for balancing and reconciling group tax, PAYG tax, FBT, payment summaries, workers compensation premiums and authorised payroll deductions to the Payroll Systems Accountant.
  • Preparation of relevant regulatory reports which may include ATO, PAYG, Superannuation, Workers Compensation and others as required.
  • Provide appropriate data for the purpose of management reporting.

Enquiries - 10%

  • Provide training and other assistance to employees in the use of the Employee Self-Serve (ESS) portals & fringe benefits vendor.
  • Respond to written and verbal enquiries from approved Department Leaders and external parties and government agencies as required.

  • Knowledge of Australian awards and legislative instruments highly desirable.
  • Understanding of criticality of compliance and data integrity.
  • Understanding of discretion required within the payroll/People & Development space.
  • Familiarity with accounting and/or payroll software.
  • Customer Service and Business Partnering experience
  • Experience in coaching leaders and teams
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Microsoft office and database usage.
  • Ability to discuss sensitive issues.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Ability to succinctly present rationale for decisions.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting is desirable.
  • Tertiary qualifications or work experience in HR or Payroll
  • Excellent mathematics and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality
