Responsibilities

  • Design, install, and configure campus network switches, routers, wireless access points, and related equipment.
  • Work on trouble tickets to resolve end-user network problems.
  • Allocate and assign campus-wide network IP address space.
  • Perform backup and recovery of campus network infrastructure configuration data.
  • Carry out regular administration tasks in support of campus network infrastructure in a 247 operations environment.
  • Install software and firmware updates and security patches.
  • Produce written documentation for network designs, processes, procedures, configurations, and network diagrams.
  • Automate network tasks using network management and automation tools and scripting.
  • Submit support tickets with hardware and software vendors to resolve campus network related issues and work with vendors until problems are resolved.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in network administration
  • Preferred: Experience installing, testing, and maintaining physical network cabling (copper, fiber optic)
  • Preferred: Experience supporting IT systems in a Higher Education environment
  • Preferred: Experience with CATV systems and cabling
  • Preferred: Experience with PBX telephone systems
  • Preferred: Network certifications

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • Degree in a related field is preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in network engineering and administration
  • Experience leading projects and working independently with minimal supervision
