We are seeking a skilled 1st Shift CNC Lathe Machinist to join our team in Elgin, IL. In this role, you will set up and operate CNC lathes, planning, constructing, altering, and repairing a variety of fixtures and tools. You will work from existing programs, equipment manuals, prints, work orders, and instructions, while ensuring high-quality output.

Skills

  • 4+ years of experience setting up and running CNC lathes with Fanuc controls
  • Experience machining stainless steel and non-ferrous materials
  • Knowledge of machines with live tooling, tailstock, and sub-spindle transfers
  • Multi-turret machine experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with Feature Cam or Fusion 360 programming is advantageous
  • CAD/CAM knowledge is helpful but not required
  • Proficiency in reading micrometers, gauges, comparators, and blueprints
  • Strong computer skills and math skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-motivated and proactive in improving processes

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to meet production requirements
  • Coordinate machining of work pieces with engineering personnel and operators
  • Modify programs as necessary and monitor equipment operation
  • Run test samples, check finished work pieces for tolerances
  • Utilize grinders, mills, EDM, and honing equipment for finishing work pieces
  • Maintain cleanliness of precision measuring and electronic testing equipment
  • Lubricate equipment and ensure proper maintenance
  • Complete parts requisitions, tool requests, and other paperwork
  • Follow all written quality and procedural guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Relevant experience in CNC machining, particularly with CNC lathes
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
