Position Summary
Kizer Energy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Rotating & Static CSU (Power Generation & Drivers) Lead to support our client, Nexus, on the Hubbard Data Center Project in Hubbard, Texas. The successful candidate will lead all mechanical completions, startup, and commissioning activities for rotating and static equipment supporting the facility's power generation systems, including generators, turbines, compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, and associated mechanical packages.
This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient progression of systems from Mechanical Completion (MC) through Pre-Functional Testing (PFT), Commissioning, Ready for Startup (RFSU), and Facility Custody Transfer to Operations (FO). The Mechanical Rotating & Static CSU Lead will provide technical leadership, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure all equipment is installed, tested, commissioned, and handed over in compliance with project requirements, OEM specifications, safety standards, and Nexus commissioning methodologies, delivering fully operational and reliable systems to support data center operations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the completion, startup, and commissioning of rotating and static mechanical systems, including generators, prime movers, turbines, compressors, pumps, fans, blowers, heat exchangers, static vessels, and mechanical drivers.
- Manage the progression of mechanical systems through Mechanical Completion (MC), Pre-Functional Testing (PFT), Commissioning, and Ready for Startup (RFSU) milestones.
- Coordinate with OEMs and equipment vendors to support installation verification, equipment alignment, lubrication system readiness, startup activities, and commissioning support.
- Review and validate vendor documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and commissioning procedures.
- Oversee mechanical testing and functional verification activities, including alignment and vibration analysis, lubrication and seal system testing, bearing inspections, run-in testing, and performance testing.
- Validate test results and ensure compliance with project requirements, OEM specifications, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, commissioning, electrical, and automation teams to ensure system readiness, resolve interface issues, and achieve commissioning milestones.
- Coordinate integration activities between mechanical equipment, electrical drivers, and control/automation systems.
- Maintain and verify mechanical documentation, including P&IDs, equipment datasheets, alignment reports, lubrication diagrams, test records, commissioning procedures, and turnover packages.
- Ensure all commissioning records and turnover documentation are complete, accurate, and audit-ready for client handover.
- Lead mechanical safety planning and enforce OSHA, NFPA, OEM, and project safety requirements during commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities.
- Identify commissioning risks, develop mitigation strategies, and support the safe execution of rotating equipment startup and performance testing.
- Provide regular commissioning progress reports, monitor readiness metrics, track punch list closure, and identify schedule risks and critical path impacts affecting project delivery.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of technical training and relevant industry experience will be considered.
- 8-12+ years of experience in mechanical commissioning, mechanical completions, rotating equipment maintenance, or startup activities on industrial, power generation, mission-critical, or data center projects.
- Proven experience with generators, turbines, compressors, pumps, and static mechanical equipment.
- Demonstrated experience leading commissioning teams and coordinating multidisciplinary project interfaces.
Certifications and Training
- OEM mechanical equipment certifications preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required.
- Training in rotating equipment, vibration analysis, shaft alignment, or API standards is highly desirable.
- Must meet all site access requirements for the Hubbard Apex Data Center.
- Additional client-specific HSE orientation and safety training may be required.
Technical Skills
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical datasheets, alignment reports, equipment drawings, and OEM manuals.
- Proficiency with vibration analysis instruments, alignment tools, and mechanical testing equipment.
- Strong understanding of lubrication systems, mechanical seals, bearings, rotating equipment performance, and reliability principles.
- Skilled in troubleshooting mechanical equipment faults, operational issues, and performance deficiencies.

- Project Duration: Approximately 2+ years, with project activities expected to continue through 2029.
- Work Schedule: Anticipated workload of 50-60 hours per week, based on project requirements and commissioning activities.
