Director of Sales | Hotel, Travel Trade

A prestigious, well-established hotel in Hong Kong is seeking a dynamic Director of Sales to drive revenue growth and lead marketing efforts. Based at the hotel and reporting to the Hotel General Manager, you'll lead a high-performing sales team of 4 to secure bookings, build partnerships, and boost the hotel's presence in local and international markets. Key focus: Maximize room revenue through strategic sales in the travel trade, with travel to China (major market) and occasional trips to SEA / APAC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Revenue & Strategy: Develop, implement, and track action plans, marketing strategies, budgets, and forecasts to hit revenue targets and optimize room occupancy.
  • Market Analysis & Growth: Analyze trends and intelligence to spot opportunities; coordinate outreach to airlines, travel agencies, corporate accounts, incentive buyers, wholesalers, and associations for new and repeat business.
  • Lead Sales Outreach: Build and nurture client relationships via personal sales calls, cold calls, trade fairs, promotional events, and targeted trips to key markets (China focus, plus SEA/APAC).
  • Team Leadership: Coach and motivate the sales team; review performance, assign tasks, and guide special projects to expand the customer base and ensure cross-departmental guest satisfaction.
  • Operations & Reporting: Manage end-to-end sales processes, including reservations, confirmations, accounts, and promotional materials; deliver monthly performance reports and advise management on strategies.
  • Representation & Networking: Attend industry events, social functions, and trade activities to enhance brand image; entertain VIPs and support ad-hoc initiatives as needed.
  • Internal Collaboration: Communicate regularly with hotel departments and the Executive Committee to align sales with business goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, or related field.
  • 8+ years in hotel sales & marketing, with 3+ years in management; strong travel trade background and established network in the industry essential.
  • Proven success in revenue maximization, strategy execution, and team leadership in hospitality; results-driven with sharp business acumen.
  • Excellent English and Chinese (written/spoken; Cantonese/Mandarin preferred); proficient in Microsoft Office with strong writing skills.
  • Mature, self-motivated problem-solver with top-tier interpersonal skills to engage clients, teams, and stakeholders confidently.
  • Adaptable and innovative; ready for travel (China/SEA/APAC) in a fast-paced environment focused on sales growth.
