Senior Research Manager | Business Research, Competitor/Market Analysis, Macro/Policy
The Group is a conglomerate and leading player in the property, fashion retail, and financial investment sectors, with a focus on leveraging big data for insightful analysis and strategic growth. Operating primarily in Hong Kong and China, the company is committed to utilizing policy research and market intelligence to drive innovation and business expansion across its diverse portfolio.
The Group is seeking a Senior Research Manager to support its Director in conducting comprehensive secondary research, analyzing trends, and generating reports to inform business strategies. This role emphasizes secondary research on business ideas, competitor landscapes, and policy impacts, with some focus on internal operational efficiency. The position is based in Hong Kong, with regular travel to Guangdong (approximately 3 days per week, with accommodation provided). The successful candidate will also manage a small team of three colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Research on Business Ideas: Conduct in-depth secondary research to evaluate and develop business ideas within the property, fashion retail, and financial investment sectors, utilizing big data and external sources.
- Competitor Analysis: Analyze competitors' strategies, market positioning, and performance to identify opportunities and threats.
- Policy and Economic Research: Monitor economic policy changes, tax regulations, and their implications for the Group's operations in e-commerce, retail, property, and financial investments.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly reports that summarize findings, provide actionable recommendations, and support strategic decision-making.
- Internal Efficiency: Conduct limited analysis of internal operational efficiency to optimize processes and align with business goals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Director to align research efforts with organizational objectives while managing and guiding a team of three colleagues.
- Market Insights: Analyze trends in the property, fashion retail, and financial investment sectors to support informed decision-making.
- Travel: Regular travel to Guangdong (3 days per week, with accommodation provided) to collaborate with local teams.
Qualifications
- A background in statistics, economics, or government policy is preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in research, with a focus on secondary data analysis.
- Familiarity with policies in property, fashion retail, financial investment, or related sectors in China is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, conduct competitor analysis, and generate meaningful insights on business ideas and policy changes.
- Experience in managing a small team is advantageous.
- Fluency in both Chinese and English is required.
