About Your Company
Our client is a Hong Kong–based growth equity investment manager building out its finance and operations backbone. The firm works with external fund administrators and professional advisers, and needs a hands-on finance and operations lead who can keep investor reporting, regulatory obligations, and GP-level audit deliverables on track during a focused contract period.
About your role
Finance and Operations Manager — Hong Kong · 6-month contract · Full-time
You will own day-to-day finance and fund operations for a growth equity platform, with particular focus on vendor oversight, investment-manager reporting, General Partner audit support, SFC-related requirements, and Hong Kong payroll tax filings (IR56B). This is a delivery-heavy contract role for someone who can operate independently, chase third parties, and close the loop with investors and auditors.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the external fund administration vendor: SLA monitoring, NAV and capital activity checks, query resolution, and escalation of exceptions.
- Preparing and coordinating investment manager reporting packages for internal stakeholders and limited partners (performance, capital calls / distributions, holdings, and ad-hoc LP requests).
- Liaise with external tax advisers and fund administrators to prepare Schedule K-1 tax schedules for the fund, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of investor US tax packages to limited partners.
- Supporting the Investment Manager audit end-to-end: PBC schedules, liaison with auditors and the fund administrator, walkthroughs, and timely clearance of open items.
- Supporting SFC-related finance and operations obligations for a licensed corporation context (e.g. books and records readiness, FRR / financial reporting inputs, and operational evidence as required).
- Owning IR56B preparation and related Hong Kong employer tax filing workflows, coordinating with payroll / HR and tax advisers as needed.
- Maintaining accurate books, reconciliations, and operational trackers across fund and management-company entities.
- Coordinating with legal, compliance, and external service providers on corporate secretarial, banking, and investor onboarding / KYC handoffs where they touch finance ops.
- Building lightweight process notes and checklists so handovers and peak cycles (audit, year-end tax, reporting) run cleanly.
What you will need to succeed
- Solid finance and operations experience in private equity, growth equity, or another alternative-asset / fund management environment (Hong Kong preferred).
- Hands-on experience overseeing or working closely with an external fund administrator.
- Comfort producing or co-ordinating investment manager / LP reporting packs to a high standard.
- Prior involvement in SFC Type 9 investment manager, GP, and/or fund audits.
- Familiarity with SFC-licensed corporation finance / ops expectations in Hong Kong.
- Practical experience with IR56B (or closely related Hong Kong employer tax filings).
- Strong Excel skills; confident chasing vendors and closing open issues without heavy supervision.
- Clear written and spoken English; Chinese proficiency is an advantage. Advantageous:
- CPA / ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience across both fund and management-company entities.
- Exposure to growth equity or venture / PE capital-call cycles.
- Available to start promptly for a six-month contract (extension subject to business need).
