Director, Sports and Recreation
A prestigious and historic private members' club in Hong Kong, with a rich legacy spanning over a century, is seeking an outstanding Director of Sports and Recreation to lead and elevate its world-class facilities and programs. Renowned for fostering community, excellence, and holistic well-being among our discerning membership, the Club offers an unparalleled array of sports, leisure, and recreational amenities across multiple clubhouses, including exclusive access to premier racecourse venues. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a pivotal leadership mandate with full strategic and operational ownership of the Sports and Recreation division, empowering you to drive innovation, member engagement, and revenue growth in a dynamic, member-centric environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the division's performance, establishing and achieving bold goals for member involvement, facility usage, income streams, and cost management across all sites and affiliated locations.
- Develop and implement a forward-thinking plan for sports, fitness, and leisure activities; manage every stage of new initiatives, from planning and budgeting to rollout, growth, and refinement to heighten member delight and retention.
- Stay attuned to shifting member interests, wellness sector developments, and peer offerings; spot promising avenues and direct efforts in creating fresh activities, forging alliances, and upgrading amenities to solidify the Club's position in Hong Kong's premier leisure scene.
- Coordinate essential tactics like targeted outreach for new members, dynamic fee structures, special events, business tie-ups, social programs, and online tools to optimize attendance, long-term value, and the Club's reputation.
- Promote decisions grounded in analytics; track vital metrics including event turnout, space bookings, satisfaction surveys, financial projections, user trends, and process enhancements to guide investments and upgrades.
- Guide a diverse group of permanent and temporary employees; attract skilled professionals, support their growth, and cultivate an environment of dedication, creativity, and collective achievement, including scheduling, fiscal oversight, and appraisals.
- Function as the central coordinator across departments, partnering with food services, membership services, maintenance, promotions, and accounting to resolve issues, uphold protocols and health guidelines, and provide outstanding, integrated services.
- Represent the Club in sports and leisure matters: nurture ties with influencers, speak at relevant gatherings and internal sessions, secure collaborative deals, and resolve high-level member issues with grace and attentiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Leisure Management, Sports Administration, Hospitality, or a comparable area (advanced degree advantageous).
- Over 12 years advancing in leisure, sports, or hospitality leadership, with clear achievements in expanding activities and venues in upscale clubs, resorts, or similar venues; preference for those with financial responsibility in member-oriented groups.
- Established record directing sports and leisure units at a director-equivalent position in a luxury club, spa, or analogous operation, encompassing fiscal control, staff oversight, and handling of varied locations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of designing varied athletic, health, and fun programs, evidenced by successful introductions of novel offerings, better space efficiency, and increased participation in diverse groups.
- Forward-looking planner paired with strong implementation ability; skilled at spearheading intricate endeavors, spanning data review and evaluation to rollout and results tracking, in energetic, client-prioritizing contexts.
- Superior command in leading, with a proven ability to assemble and energize varied, elite groups while emphasizing service orientation and unity.
- Language: Complete proficiency in written and oral English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin ideal), vital for engaging members, directing staff, and preparing reports.
- Dynamic, initiative-taking approach with zeal for superior standards, excelling amid uncertainty and prioritizing creativity, security, and crafting memorable moments that deepen member connections.
