Tasks and Responsibilities :
Beverage Preparation:
- Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos, and macchiatos.
- Grind coffee beans and brew coffee using various brewing methods, such as pour-over or French press.
- Froth milk and create latte art to enhance the presentation of beverages.
- Prepare and serve a variety of tea-based beverages, including loose-leaf teas and specialty tea blends.
- Follow recipes and beverage standards to ensure consistency and quality.
Customer Service:
- Greet customers, take their orders, and provide recommendations based on their preferences.
- Provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, engaging in conversation with customers when appropriate.
- Answer customer inquiries, address concerns, and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Handle cash transactions and operate the cash register accurately.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the counter and seating areas.
- Product Knowledge:
- Stay updated on coffee and tea trends, as well as the origin and characteristics of different beans and blends.
- Educate customers on different coffee and tea varieties, flavor profiles, and brewing methods.
- Provide information about seasonal specials, promotions, and menu offerings.
- Assist customers in selecting the most suitable beverage based on their preferences.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain coffee equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and brewers.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as descaling and backflushing machines.
- Ensure the proper functioning of equipment and report any malfunctions or repairs needed.
- Follow health and safety guidelines in handling and storing equipment and supplies.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of coffee beans, tea leaves, syrups, and other ingredients.
- Restock supplies as needed, ensuring availability of ingredients and materials for beverage preparation.
- Assist in receiving and inspecting deliveries, verifying quantities and quality of products.
- Report any inventory discrepancies or issues to the supervisor or manager.
- Train baristas to engage with customers, provide product recommendations, and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Monitor customer satisfaction levels and take proactive measures to enhance the overall customer experience.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role is preferred.
- Knowledge of different coffee and tea varieties, brewing methods, and flavor profiles.
- Familiarity with espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple customer orders simultaneously.
- Attention to detail in beverage preparation and presentation.
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food handling and sanitation.
