Senior Accountant Consultant

Mission Overview:

Keystone Solutions is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our consultancy mission at a client site. In this role, you will take on a key position within the financial organization, being fully responsible for the general accounting (GL) and ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality closures.

Responsibilities:

• Full responsibility for the general accounting from A to Z.
• Prepare and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closures.
• Draft the annual accounts and prepare the file for the auditor.
• Perform and follow up on various reconciliations (balance sheets, intercompany, provisions, etc.).
• Ensure the quality, completeness, and accuracy of the accounting.
• Ensure correct analytical processing.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Support corporate tax returns in collaboration with an external partner.
• Act as a point of contact for audits from the auditor and the Court of Audit.
• Lead and coach a small finance team (2 transactional staff + 1 junior GL accountant).
• Constructively manage team dynamics and guide employees in their growth, even when challenging.
• Oversee efficient task distribution and correct execution of operational processes, taking a hands-on role when necessary.
• Actively participate in process optimization, internal controls, and automation projects.
• Collaborate with the parent company NIRAS on aligning processes and procedures.
• Initiate and follow up on improvement projects within finance/accounting.
• Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding accounting questions.
• Work closely with the corporate finance manager and the corporate business controlling manager.
• Proactively identify risks, deviations, or improvement opportunities.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in GL accounting or a senior accounting role.
• Proven experience in leading a team and taking on a coordinating role.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting legislation and VAT regulations.
• Experience with month-end and year-end closures is essential.
• Knowledge of ERP systems (AX and D365 is a plus).
• High maturity and leadership skills to guide, motivate, and direct a team.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make decisions within your area of responsibility.
• Hands-on approach: actively participate in closures and operational accounting tasks and take ownership.
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and quality-oriented.
• Excellent communication skills, stress-resistant, and able to interact with various personalities.
• Able to build and maintain relationships with colleagues.
• Available immediately or at very short notice.
• Willing to be 100% physically present on-site throughout the assignment.
