Civil Engineer

Position Overview

A specialized engineering services firm is looking for a motivated early-career Engineer to join their team supporting the planning and design of energy infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on exposure to a wide range of systems including oil, gas, LNG, CNG, RNG, propane, and other energy technologies, with direct mentorship from experienced senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop site plans, grading plans, stormwater management designs, foundation and structural calculations, schematic layouts, and technical reports for energy infrastructure projects
  • Apply engineering principles and sound judgment to address project-specific challenges and support client objectives
  • Work as part of collaborative project teams helping clients navigate the complexities of energy system development and operations
  • Utilize engineering software and computer tools for data collection, calculations, technical studies, and report preparation
  • Analyze maps, drawings, aerial imagery, field test results, and site reports to inform design decisions
  • Support project engineering tasks including equipment specifications, sizing and evaluation, cost estimating, project scheduling, and economic assessments
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and client-facing deliverables
  • Attend client meetings as required, including occasional evening availability
  • Adhere diligently to internal quality control procedures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Take initiative on moderate-level problem solving within the scope of assigned work
  • Direct the day-to-day work of drafters and technical support staff as needed
  • Represent the firm at job fairs and external business development events
  • Work under the guidance of senior staff while actively progressing toward EI or EIT licensure
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment

This position operates across office, hybrid, and field settings. Office-based work may involve extended computer use and document-intensive tasks. Field assignments can include outdoor work and visits to active construction sites in all weather conditions. Travel of up to 90% may be required; candidates must hold a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Overtime and weekend availability may occasionally be needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and perform hands-on tasks
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. frequently and up to 25 lbs. on occasion
  • Requires close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust visual focus

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 0–3 years of related engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of core civil engineering principles with the ability to apply them using independent judgment
  • Ability to produce basic technical drawings and engineering computations
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a dynamic work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships with colleagues and clients

Preferred:

  • EIT or EI licensure (or active progress toward certification)
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D and structural design applications
