Role Description:

Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and support of tracking our commercial pipeline while assisting in identifying new prospects and stewarding the development of outbound proposals. You will lead in the creation of strategic sales (RFP) proposals and develop ideas and concepts to solve client goals that are deeply rooted in storytelling through insights.

Key Deliverables of the Role:

  • Serve as primary business development administrator for the salesforce environment including:
    • Handle all basic administrative functions of account, contact and opportunity maintenance, setup and approval
    • Transfer record ownership due to changes in rep or territory coverage and keep client database current
    • Import and assign leads and contacts documents as required.

  • Assist commercial team by:
    • Searching for prospective clients and qualifying potential new clients.
    • Utilize business acumen to research companies, C-Level executives, business trends, and competitive intelligence to inform and guide the commercial team

  • Partner with account executives and creative strategists throughout the RFP process to develop innovative, insight-driven programs on the company, bringing measurable ROI for our clients
    • Assist with drafting RFP submissions, sales pitches, presentations, reference material, and other
    • Enter and manage insertion orders within third-party and internal sales operations systems

  • Hold a general knowledge of all aspects of industry and clients' business and the ability to apply that knowledge to meaningful insights, counsel and planning for the client's business and Sermo deliverables.
  • Establishes and maintains knowledge of products and service offerings
  • 2-3+ years experience working at a publisher, media or creative agency managing a brand's digital advertising strategy, sales teams, creative development or buying activities
  • Business development associate should have working knowledge of Salesforce inside and out.
  • Experience in a sales interfacing role and comfortable presenting to different internal audiences, tailoring messages accordingly

Beneficial IT Skills:

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, as well as experience with analyzing datasets, and delivering actionable insights

Role Specific Technical Skills or Knowledge Required:

  • Love to prospect - act as the engine of our sales team, revving up and warming up leads to be shared with our outside sales team
  • Work with a strong sense of urgency, which translates into activity with the expectation of making 50 calls per day
  • Naturally and highly curious - ask thorough and pointed questions, guiding potential clients through needs analysis and discovery sessions to qualify the lead and drive new opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, and handle and prioritize simultaneous requests
  • Ability to critically evaluate and prioritize information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts

Soft or general skills required:

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and all levels of management (internally and externally)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes
