 Job Description: Supervisor (Tax/Revenue)

As a Supervisor in the tax and revenue sector, you will lead and manage a team to ensure effective operations while aligning with the core values, agency policies, applicable standard work, and relevant laws. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Actively participating in the interviewing and hiring processes, ensuring the successful functional onboarding of new employees.
  • Planning, assigning, coordinating, and overseeing the daily tasks of direct reports, aligning their work with the strategic, operational, and tactical priorities of the organization.
  • Conducting regular one-on-one meetings, providing balanced and constructive performance feedback, and offering coaching and mentorship to help team members grow.
  • Setting reasonable stretch performance goals, conducting employee mid-year and annual performance appraisals to ensure progress and accountability.
  • Recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance, promoting a positive workplace culture, and encouraging continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communicating and enforcing agency policies and programs to maintain compliance and consistency.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems promptly, applying corrective action when necessary, and collaborating with leadership and Human Resources as appropriate.

Education

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related field is typically required.  

Experience

  • Supervisory/Management Experience: Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role is usually required. Candidates should have experience leading teams, overseeing operations, and managing performance.
  • Tax/Revenue Experience: Tax administration, auditing, accounting, or financial analysis. Familiarity with state tax laws, regulations, and processes is important.
  • Project Management: Experience managing projects or coordinating operational activities to meet strategic objectives is often necessary.
