About the job French Speaking Technical Support (FinTech & SQL)
French Technical Support (FinTech & SQL)
This is a high-level technical role that sits at the intersection of Customer Success and Software Engineering. Unlike general customer service, this position requires a deep dive into the backend of a financial platform to solve complex data and integration issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Troubleshooting: Using MySQL to query databases, identify synchronization errors, and resolve transaction discrepancies.
- Technical Translation: Acting as the bridge between French-speaking business clients and English-speaking developers. You translate "client problems" into "technical tickets."
- API & Tooling: Utilizing tools like Postman to test API endpoints and ensure the FinTech app is communicating correctly with third-party banking systems.
- Bug Escalation: Identifying recurring technical patterns and escalating them to the Level 3 Engineering team with detailed logs.
- Remote Management: Maintaining high productivity and security standards while working in a 100% remote environment.
Core Requirements
- Linguistic Mastery: Native or C2-level French for client interaction and B2/C1 English for internal technical documentation.
- SQL Knowledge: A functional understanding of MySQL (Select, Join, Update statements) is usually the "make or break" requirement for this role.
- Analytical Mindset: You don't just follow a script; you investigate why a piece of data isn't showing up where it should.
- Portugal Residency: You must be based in Portugal to comply with local labor laws and tax regulations.
The Typical Package in Portugal
- Work Model: Usually 100% Remote, often with an initial short training period in a hub like Porto or Lisbon.
- Remuneration: Generally higher than standard CS roles due to the technical requirement (SQL/FinTech).
- Allowances: * WFH Allowance: Monthly stipend for electricity/internet.
- Meal Allowance: Usually provided via a card (Ticket Restaurant style).
- Schedule: Typically Monday to Friday, aligning with standard European business hours (07:00 – 19:00 window).
Why this role is unique
In the Portuguese job market, this is considered a "Bridge Role." It allows people with strong language skills to transition into the IT/DevOps sector without needing a full Computer Science degree, provided they can demonstrate their logic and SQL abilities.
