Purpose of Role:

The Engineer will support the reliability, maintenance, automation, and continuous improvement of plant equipment and technical systems to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations.

This role requires a strong combination of technical understanding, analytical capability, communication skills, coordination ability, and stakeholder management. The Engineer will serve as a key link between the engineering team, operations, management, customers, and external service providers and assisting the Manager.

Responsibilities:

Engineering, Maintenance & Automation

  • Coordinate and carry out preventive maintenance and corrective repair works on packaging equipment, conveying systems, electrical systems and automation systems among various stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, PLC, HMI, and automation-related issues to minimize operational downtime.
  • Plan, execute and review preventive maintenance programmes to ensure equipment reliability and optimal operational performance.
  • Monitor, record and review equipment performance and implement reliability enhancement initiatives.
  • Maintain and ensure that equipment records, work orders, maintenance histories, inspection findings, technical documents, and supporting documents are properly maintained.
  • Support system upgrades, commissioning activities, and automation improvement projects.
  • Liaise with vendors and contractors on maintenance, technical support, and implementation activities.
  • Prepare technical summaries, presentations, reports, action trackers, and recommendations for management and customer review.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Support engineering projects from conceptualization through implementation and commissioning.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures, operational disruptions, and technical incidents.
  • Recommend and implement cost-effective engineering solutions to improve productivity, safety, and safety.
  • Drive continuous improvement, digitalization, and automation initiatives across technical operations.
  • Support the development of predictive maintenance strategies and reliability improvement programmes.

Customer / Stakeholders Management & Technical Support

  • Act as the technical point of contact between customer and vendors on engineering, automation, and technical improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in site visits, audits, and project discussions to understand requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Investigate and present technical issues raised by operations and managers so as to provide timely corrective action plans.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, technical reviews, and project updates for customers.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations and Site management to develop value-added solutions and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Manage challenging technical discussions calmly, professionally, and constructively.

Data Analytics & Operational Excellence

  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, KPI reports, and management reporting tools using platforms such as Excel.
  • Monitor equipment uptime, downtime, throughput, and process efficiency metrics and recommend improvement actions.
  • Generate data-driven insights and business intelligence reports to support Technical decision-making.
  • Utilize analytics to support root cause investigations, predictive maintenance, resource optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Safety, Health & Environment

  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, company safety policies, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures before maintenance, project, or engineering activities.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and safe work practices within the department.

Resource & Cost Management

  • Monitor maintenance consumables, spare parts inventory, and equipment requirements.
  • Assist in preparing technical specifications, obtaining quotations, and evaluating vendor proposals.
  • Support cost control initiatives and maintenance resources.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and according to specifications.
  • Support management in prioritizing engineering resources, maintenance activities, and improvement initiatives.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Technical Manager.


Job Requirements:

  • Possess a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Min 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance, automation, manufacturing, or process plant environments.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC and industrial automation systems is preferred.
  • Experience managing maintenance contractors and project activities is advantageous.
