Position Overview

As the Safety & Environment Manager, Will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, health, and environmental sustainability of our operations. Oversee safety and health management, occupational health management, and lead awareness initiatives. Additionally, manage the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and ensure compliance across all operation areas.

Responsibilities :

Key Accountabilities

Safety & Health Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate safety training programs for employees and contractors to promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, analyze root causes, and implement preventative measures to minimize future occurrences.
  • Monitor and manage safety performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Occupational Health Management:

  • Develop and implement occupational health programs to safeguard the health and well-being of employees.
  • Coordinate with medical professionals to provide health assessments, screenings, and vaccinations as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health regulations and standards, including monitoring exposure to hazardous substances.

Awareness Initiatives:

  • Lead initiatives to raise awareness of safety, health, and environmental issues among employees, contractors, and the local community.
  • Organize safety campaigns, toolbox talks, and other educational events to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety and environmental considerations into daily operations.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Process:

  • Manage the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for new projects and modifications to existing facilities.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize environmental impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance indicators, striving for continuous improvement in environmental management practices.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field. Advanced degree or certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in safety, health, and environmental management within the edible oil, biodiesel, or related manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and experience with regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate employees at all levels.
  • Experience managing the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and conducting environmental risk assessments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making to prioritize safety and environmental objectives
